Barbara Crea Shannon ’70
Recipient 2014 Alumni Medal
Exemplifying the spirit of Immaculata, Shannon began as a religion teacher and went on to work for more than 20 years as an independent distributor of natural nutrition, personal care, and household products. In 2002, Shannon rediscovered her calling as a teacher in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Contributing to the legacy of Catholic education, Shannon instructed students in both liberal arts and science.
A devoted member of the Delaware County Chapter Alumni Association, Shannon assisted in the rejuvenation of this Chapter in the early 80s and has served in a variety of leadership roles. From 2011 on, her role and time commitment at Immaculata has increased. Shannon is the current past president of the Alumni Board of Governors and served a three-year term as a Board member. She is an active leader at Saint Andrew’s Church in Drexel Hill, PA and participates in many cultural organizations throughout Philadelphia.
Peggy Ann Behm ’81
Recipient 2014 Amethyst Award
Beginning her career at DuPont as a global business analyst, Behm quickly worked her way up the corporate ladder, serving as an executive at top companies such as MBNA and Bank of America. In 2008, Behm left the world of banking to become a business development consultant and is now a principal at the Rockland Mills Group.
A champion of women and girls, Behm was appointed by Governor Carper to the Commission for Delaware Women. Behm also served as president of Wilmington Women in Business, a member of the Executive Council for the Agenda for Delaware Women, board member of Chesapeake Bay Girl Scouts, board president of Padua Academy, and oversaw the establishment of a scholarship foundation for women returning to the classroom. During this time, her commitment to Immaculata has remained steadfast. She has served in numerous volunteer capacities, most recently as chair of the Selection Committee for the new chair of the Board of Trustees. Behm is a current member of the Board of Trustees.
